ATS-400 Certified ATS Instructor Programs
The most up-to-date TPMS Information!
TIAs newest training and certification program is directed
to technicians working in a typical retail tire dealership. The
Certified ATS Instructor seminar is divided into 3-day and 4-day
classes. Students that successfully complete the 3-day program become
TIA Certified ATS Instructors and receive the credentials to train
and certify technicians in the field. Students that successfully
complete the 4-day program become TIA Certified Advanced ATS Instructors
and receive the credentials to train and certify technicians and
instructors in the field.
Both programs begin on Tuesday morning. The 3-day students depart
on Thursday and the 4-day students depart on Friday. Both Certified
ATS Instructor Programs involve extensive hands-on training, so
students must demonstrate proficiency in the shop before they are
allowed to take the Certification Exam. Classroom instruction covers

Basic Automotive Tire Service
Training & Certificate Program
New hires and experienced technicians require some form of documented
training, and TIAs Basic Automotive Tire Service (ATS) Program
is designed to meet that need. The self-study format is available
in both VHS and DVD with a technician workbook. Basic ATS also includes
a web-based component that utilizes an Interactive Compact Disc (ICD)
to gain access to the video and high bandwidth exercises. With just
a 28k modem, there is no waiting for downloads as the Internet connection
simply directs the material on the ICD. The web-based component also
includes a complete database management system that allows company
administrators to monitor and download technician activity. A 12-month
unlimited access subscription to the web-based portion of Basic ATS
is included in every package.
Basic ATS
is comprised of eight modules:
- Module
1 covers the basic principles of tires and
wheels, including sizing and sidewall information.
Module
2 outlines the procedures for raising a vehicle using in-ground,
above ground and portable lift equipment.
Module
3 covers tire and wheel assembly removal and installation,
including rotation patterns and proper lug nut torque procedures.
Module
4 includes the step-by-step demount, mount and inflation procedures
using a center post and rim clamp tire machine.
Module
5 covers tire and wheel assembly balancing procedures and
guidelines.
Module
6 is dedicated to diagnosing tire and wheel problems with
a focus on runout measurement of the tire, wheel and hub.
Module
7 covers the step-by-step procedures for installing one-piece
and two-piece nail hole repairs in passenger and light truck tires.
- Module
8 includes frequently asked questions related to tires and
wheels.
Every technician
that successfully completes the training program and returns the
proper documentation with an additional minimal fee to TIA receives
a TIA Certificate of Completion. The web-based component provides
automatic documentation of participation, regardless of the score
on the final exam, and allows the administrator access to the database
for the entire company at the corporate level. It also allows branch
managers to view the progress and performance of employees in their
particular locations.
