RECYCLING CONFERENCE (CTRRC)

February 9-11, 2009
Rosen Centre Hotel
Orlando, Florida

HOTEL REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS JANUARY 16.

Reservations must be made by phone, fax, mail or online by January 16, 2009 in order to guarantee the convention rate of $194 single/double.

Make your plans to attend this event! Whether you're in the commercial tire business, a retreader, or a recycler, you won't want to miss TIA's Commercial Tire, Retread & Recycling Conference (CTRRC).

For those involved in the commercial tire business and those involved in retreading, for the third year, TIA is co-locating the Commercial Tire, Retread & Recycling Conference two-day educational program with the American Trucking Associations' (ATA) Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Annual Meeting and Trade Show. This is North America's largest gathering of fleet maintenance professionals and this combination of organizations provides an opportunity for you to meet and interact with buyers in the trucking industry as well as with professionals from the commercial tire, retreading, and tire and rubber recycling industries. Expect to hear about issues such as crumb rubber as a revenue stream, minimizing liability, reducing workers' comp, and more.

TIA PAVILION - NEW THIS YEAR! For the first time, at this year's TMC Show (which will be held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando), TIA will sponsor the TIA Pavilion. As the name implies, the TIA Pavilion will be all about tires, and it's THE place to exhibit! The exhibitor prospectus is now available. Call LaKisha Pindell at 800-876-8372, ext. 104, or email her at lpindell@tireindustry.org for this, or for more information.

Click on links below for information in regards to exhibiting in the TIA Pavilion held conjunction with the American Trucking Associations' (ATA) & Technology Maintenance Council (TMC) Trade Show. Contracts must be submitted to TMC for processing and space will be reserved on a first-come-first serve basis--payment must accompany contract.   All TIA suppliers will receive member pricing. Contact LaKisha Pindell, Director of Meetings with additional questions at lpindell@tireindustry.org or 800-876-8372, ext. 104

For recyclers, the two-day program is an opportunity to stay on top of the latest trends in the ever-changing world of recycling. The program's sessions include Government and Industry Working Together: An Interactive Gathering, which will be a two-part program that will include a state scrap tire program managers meeting and an open session on state tire programs and their benefits to processors and end users. Additional sessions will cover global, economic, manufacturing, and tire recycling trends. If you want a window on the future of tire recycling, make plans to attend now!

Host Hotel
TIA has secured meeting space in the host hotel, the Rosen Centre, which is also connected to the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC). Attendees can have the convenience of staying at the hotel where TIA meetings will take place. All TIA functions in the Rosen Centre Hotel will be in the same area, and the American Trucking Associations' Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Transportation Technology Exhibition and Study Group meeting will be at the OCCC.

Commercial Tire, Retread & Recycling Conference
Commercial Tire, Retread & Recycling Conference
(CTRRC)
February 5-7, 2008
Rosen Centre Hotel
Orlando, Florida

Post Conference Summary
We were very pleased to see so many TIA members in Orlando for the Commercial Tire, Retread & Recycling Conference that was held in conjunction with the TMC show. We had a total of 404 attendees,
including 294 attendees from the commercial and retread markets and 110 recyclers. The sessions were well attended and key industry leaders gave valuable updates and industry insights to attendees. The
Tire Manufacturers Forum was a big success with the panel answering questions for the full 90 minutes that was scheduled.

More than 75 tire and rubber recyclers and industry professionals took part in the tire recycling facility tour which took place at the Ridge Generating Station in Auburndale, Florida. Recyclers had the opportunity to view full scale tire processing and energy production operations during the tour. The 45 megawatt plant processes up to 300,000 tons per year of waste wood and approximately 30,000 tons of tires per year into clean energy.

One of the highlights of the tire recycling program was the Thursday afternoon playground and sports surfaces product testing demonstration. Coordinated by TRRAC member Denise Kennedy, the program included testing of loose fill, pour-in-place and artificial sport turf surfacing. Attendees viewed a demonstration on how to use the TRIAX 2000 and "A" missile testing equipment in the field prior to sending the material to a testing lab for official certification. The TRIAX 2000 is used to test for impact attenuation of recycled rubber surfaces and the "A" missile is an artificial turf impact tester which can be used to test football, soccer, and baseball, and multi-purpose fields.

Overall, the CTRRC was a very successful event that provided an important venue for the retread, commercial tire, and recycling industries.

TIA would like thank all of the sponsors for their support of the CTRRC this year in Orlando, Florida:

TIA/AAIA AFTERMARKET LEGISLATIVE SUMMIT
Washington D.C. June 12-13 2007
TIA joined with the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) to bring you the Automotive Aftermarket Legislative Summit, June 12-13 in Washington, DC. Federal legislation and regulation affects the way you interact with customers, your ability to compete, and the day-to-day operation of your business. The goal of the Aftermarket Legislative Summit is to ensure that policymakers have the information they need from the automotive aftermarket to ensure they make educated and informed decisions. It is imperative, as an industry, to make our voices heard by our nation's leaders.

Commercial Tire, Recycling and Retread Conference - Wrap-up
The first CTRRC Conference was held in Tampa, Florida, February 6-8, 2007 in conjunction with the Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) of the American Trucking Association (ATA). There were 240 registered attendees, including 145 from the commercial/retread market and 95 recyclers who attended the three-day conference and participated in the workshops and recycling tour. Topics ranged from risk management to retreading the new ultra low-profile wide-base tires, and the response from attendees was extremely positive.

2007 OTR Conference Wrap-Up
TIA enjoyed record-setting attendance at the 51st OTR Conference in San Diego, California, February 22-24, 2007.  Approximately 450 people were in attendance, including nearly 100 attendees from outside of North America.  Many of the presentations were focused on the tremendous shortage of OTR tires and how dealers and retreaders can adapt to the many changes in the industry.  The annual highlight of the OTR Conference is the forecast for original equipment and replacement tires, and attendees were informed that the back-order situation for many large OTR sizes is expected to continue for at least the next 2-3 years.  The golf tournament is another aspect of the event that many attendees anticipate, and this year it was sold out so another course was added to accommodate the demand.  There is already tremendous anticipation for next year's conference in Hawaii, be sure to register early!
