TIA/AAIA AFTERMARKET LEGISLATIVE SUMMIT June 12-13 2007

WHY ATTEND?
Every day, policymakers in Washington make decisions that affect the bottom line of the aftermarket industry. These decisions have a tremendous impact on every aspect of your business. Federal legislation and regulation affects the way you interact with customers, your ability to compete, and the day-to-day operation of your business. The goal of the Aftermarket Legislative Summit is to ensure that policymakers have the information they need from the automotive aftermarket to ensure they make educated and informed decisions. It is imperative, as an industry, to make our voices heard by our nation’s leaders.

ISSUES:
One of the major issues that likely will be highlighted during the Summit is the Motor Vehicle Owners’ Right to Repair Act in addition to the health insurance issue. Right to Repair saw great progress in the 109th Congress, passing the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer
Protection for the first time. This year Right to Repair needs even more support from the aftermarket to move it further in the House and Senate. The rising cost of health insurance and the need for increased funding for vocational education programs also could be subjects covered by summit attendees.

RECEPTION:
Ray Evernham, president and CEO, Evernham Motorsports, will be this year’s special guest at the Aftermarket Legislative Summit Congressional Reception in Washington, D.C. The reception allows attendees the opportunity to meet and have their picture taken with Evernham. Attendees also will have the opportunity to network with legislators and their staffs in an informal setting.
