TIA’s 52nd Off-the-Road Tire Conference

Bowie, MD – (March 16, 2007) The Tire Industry Association (TIA) announced the results of their 52nd Off-the-Road Tire  (OTR) Conference in San Diego, California, February 22-24.  This year’s conference had record setting attendance with 450 people, including nearly 100 attendees from outside of North America.

“We are excited to see the growth in attendance for this conference,” said Paul Hyatt, TIA President. “It shows the value our members and non-members from around the world are gaining from this annual event.”

Many of the OTR presentations were focused on the tremendous shortage of OTR tires and how dealers and retreaders can adapt to the many changes in the industry.  The annual highlight of the OTR Conference is the forecast for original equipment and replacement tires, and attendees were informed that the back-order situation for many large OTR sizes is expected to continue for at least the next 2-3 years.

TIA will hold its 2008 OTR Conference February 21-23, 2008, at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel in Kohala Coast, Hawaii. Registration is currently open for the 2008 conference. A registration form with hotel information is available on TIA’s website at www.tireindustry.org, click on "Events."  The Association expects this conference to sell out. Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

TIA is an international association representing all segments of the tire industry, including those that manufacture, repair, recycle, sell, service or use new or retreaded tires, and also those suppliers or individuals who furnish equipment, material or services to the industry. The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has a history that spans more than 80 years and includes several name changes. Originally known as the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association (NTDRA), the organization gave birth over the years to the American Retreaders Association (ARA) and the Tire Association of North America (TANA).  ARA changed its name to the International Tire & Rubber Association (ITRA) and merged with TANA in 2002 to form the current Tire Industry Association (TIA), which now represents every interest in the tire industry.
