TIA’s Performance Tires & Wheels Gets New Name
and New Headquarters Hotel

Bowie, MD – (March 17, 2008) The Tire Industry Association (TIA) today announced that the Performance Tires & Wheels section sponsored by TIA at the SEMA Show will now be called, Tires, Wheels & Equipment (TWE).  “This name change is a result of feedback from exhibitors and attendees for a name that more closely fits the products that are being displayed in this popular section of the trade show,” explained Roy Littlefield, TIA Executive Vice President. The SEMA Show will be held Tuesday, November 4 – Friday, November 7, 2008, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

TIA’s Headquarters Hotel for TWE will move from Caesars Palace to the new Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. “We are excited about this change and the new opportunities it presents for TIA’s special events,” commented Roy Littlefield, TIA Executive Vice President.

TIA is an international association representing all segments of the tire industry, including those that manufacture, repair, recycle, sell, service or use new or retreaded tires, and also those suppliers or individuals who furnish equipment, material or services to the industry. The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has a history that spans more than 80 years and includes several name changes. Originally known as the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association (NTDRA), the organization gave birth over the years to the American Retreaders Association (ARA) and the Tire Association of North America (TANA).  ARA changed its name to the International Tire & Rubber Association (ITRA) and merged with TANA in 2002 to form the current Tire Industry Association (TIA), which now represents every interest in the tire industry.
