TIA Announces Recaufair Alliance with U.S. Commercial Service,
Tire Retread Information Bureau

Bowie, MD — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) today announced today that they are exhibiting with the U.S. Commercial Service and the Tire Retread Information Bureau (TRIB) at the 2008 Recaufair Tire Show, which will be held May 5-8 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Mr. Germano Julio Badi will represent TIA and Ms. Anne Evans, director of the Middletown Export Assistance Center, will be representing the U.S. Commercial Service. Members of TIA, TRIB and other U.S. companies interested in growing their export activities are invited to stop by the TIA stand. Acknowledged as the largest tire show in Latin America, the event’s organizers are anticipating 10,500 domestic and international visitors. The retreading, recycling, commercial and service sectors are the focus, and the show will also feature lectures on markets, technology, environment and social responsibility.

“With TIA being the world’s leading authority on tires, and with Recaufair being South America’s premiere exposition on tires, we see our presence at this event as a natural fit,” said Roy Littlefield, executive vice president of TIA. “TIA has historically had strong ties to South America and we are looking forward continuing those relationships and working more closely with the U.S. Commercial for the benefit of our members.”

TIA is an international association representing all segments of the tire industry, including those that manufacture, repair, recycle, sell, service or use new or retreaded tires, and also those suppliers or individuals who furnish equipment, material or services to the industry. The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has a history that spans more than 80 years and includes several name changes. Originally known as the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association (NTDRA), the organization gave birth over the years to the American Retreaders Association (ARA) and the Tire Association of North America (TANA). ARA changed its name to the International Tire & Rubber Association (ITRA) and merged with TANA in 2002 to form the current Tire Industry Association (TIA), which now represents every interest in the tire industry.
