TIA to be Featured on MotorWeek

Bowie, MD – (September 28, 2006) The Tire Industry Association (TIA) announced today that it will be featured on an upcoming episode of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) automotive series MotorWeek, during the week of October 6, 2006. Kevin Rohlwing, Senior Vice President of Training, will appear on the Goss’ Garage segment to discuss the proper service and maintenance procedures for Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).  MotorWeek is entering its 26th season on public television and is considered a leading source for auto news and entertainment.

“We are excited about our first national television exposure for one of our training programs and the opportunity to get TIA into the homes of tire buyers,” remarked TIA President Bob Malerba.  “TIA has worked hard over the past five years to become the leader in TPMS education and our spot on Goss’ Garage helps confirm that position.”

“The TPMS Training Program is the fastest-selling training program in the history of any tire association in the world,” added Roy Littlefield, TIA Executive Vice President.  “Kevin is charged with making sure our membership has access to educational resources and his work on TPMS speaks for itself.  He has also appeared on several local news programs and always encourages the public to seek out dealers who have trained personnel.  Our goal is to direct consumers to TIA members for all of their tire and automotive service and this exposure represents another important step in that direction.”

TIA is an international association representing all segments of the tire industry, including those that manufacture, repair, recycle, sell, service or use new or retreaded tires, and also those suppliers or individuals who furnish equipment, material or services to the industry. The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has a history that spans more than 80 years and includes several name changes. Originally known as the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association (NTDRA), the organization gave birth over the years to the American Retreaders Association (ARA) and the Tire Association of North America (TANA).  ARA changed its name to the International Tire & Rubber Association (ITRA) and merged with TANA in 2002 to form the current Tire Industry Association (TIA), which now represents every interest in the tire industry.
