Website Statistics: www.tireindustry.org

It is time for our yearly checkup! Yet again TIA’s website is in excellent shape as visitation continues to grow as does the size of the site. For the first time, there is three years of detailed statistical data to compare. In brief, site visitation is up almost 11% from 2004 to 329,277 unique visitors in 2005. Since “hits” are not an accurate representation of site visitors, we count “unique visitors” which is someone who visits the site, but only counted one time each day (if you go back several times in a day, it only counts once). At the end of 2005, the site averaged over 32,000+ unique visitors per month. Foreign visitors are up 8% to 105 countries. The overall page count of the site has increased 32% to contain 1,250 pages, of which 415 are in the Members Only area (doubling in size since 2004). In particular, the online archives for CTS Today and Today’s Tire Industry are now updated with PDF’s of back issues, but only members have access. The site continues to be listed in all of the top search engines with prominent placement. Our keyword rankings have remained excellent as well as important new areas such as “TPMS” also have top rankings. Industry people looking for info on TPMS, the TREAD Act and other important issues are finding this site. As TIA’s website continues to grow, our position as an industry leader is reaffirmed. If you haven’t thought about it, consider advertising on TIA’s website today!

With April Fools’ Day just around the corner, I was curious what would happen by simply Googling “April Fools.” To my utter delight (and I’m being serious) I found this site that has a list of the Top 100 April Fools’ Day Hoaxes of all time including:
- The Swiss Spaghetti Harvest
- Instant Color TV
- The Taco Liberty Bell
- Alabama Changes the Value of Pi
- The Left-Handed Whopper
But wait, there is more! There are many funny sections to this site including “Famous Hoaxes Throughout History,” “The Top 10 Worst April Fools’ Day Hoaxes Ever,” “Hoax Photo Gallery,” and “The Gullibility Test” among others. So if you just want a good laugh or ideas for a prank, be sure to check out this site.

Many folks in the tire recycling industry are aware of the publication Scrap Tire News, which has been around for over 16 years. But they might not know about their website. This site contains a plethora of information about scrap tires, scrap tire recycling, rubber recycling, and reuse. This includes featured articles on important reports, papers, new techniques as well as archives on past articles and classifieds. With this industry becoming increasingly global in scope, they have also strengthened their coverage of tire and rubber recycling developments worldwide. |
