As we all know, alternate energy sources for cars and trucks have become a pretty hot topic recently. From Hydrogen fuel cell technology to electric powered cars we are at the birth of technologies that will drive us away from our dependence on fossil fuels and into the future. But with all of this talk and tossing about of techno-buzzwords, where does one go to find out more details about these alternate energy sources? This website, www.calstart.org, is a good place to begin. It is run by WestStart-CALSTART, a private non-profit organization dedicated to developing a global advanced transportation technologies industry and its related markets that will clean the air, increase energy efficiency and create high quality jobs. This site has information on conferences and symposiums on diverse topics such as the “Clean Heavy-Duty Vehicles Conference” to the “National Fuel Cell Bus Technology Initiative.” In addition there is an industry calendar of events, industry news, op-ed articles, newsletters, employment opportunities, etc. There is even an Alternative Fuel Refueling Station map that is arranged by fuel type (hydrogen, electric etc).

(National Tire Safety Week) Every year the Rubber Manufacturers Association, along with its various partners (including TIA), sponsor an event called National Tire Safety Week. Hopefully, you’ve heard of it and are participating this year. The fourth annual "National Tire Safety Week" takes place April 24-30, 2005, so by the time you read this it might be either right around the corner or already have taken place. The goal is to educate motorists about proper tire care and safety. Businesses that sign up for this program, are provided at no charge with RMA’s Be Tire Smart – Play Your PART brochures that you can give to your customers.
