The government is constantly enacting new laws that affect the way you do business. The Tire Industry Association has been very active on Capitol Hill working to enact legislation that benefits our industry. Many issues are covered, including taxes, labor, health care, the environment and training. Whether it is a tax incentive, OSHA regulation, health care issue, or tire industry legislation, government agencies always impact your business. TIA is your eyes and ears on Capitol Hill and your voice in Washington, DC. We represent your interests with OSHA, EPA, IRS and DOT. TIA works closely with Congress to guide legislation in a direction that will benefit you, your employees and your business. Visit the Government Issues page to get the latest information about issues that will affect your business. It is also a great resource with online copies of many of the important rulings such as the TREAD Act and TPMS Final Rule. You can even read the actual testimony that TIA submits to Congress on behalf of our members and the tire industry.

The website features extensive vehicle safety ratings (searchable by make/model/year) and crash test data with videos of select tests. The homepage features top stories that are often detailed research on specific cars in relation to safety and results from a broad range of studies. While funded by the insurance industries, the information here can be used by consumers to examine the safety of specific automobiles.

Summertime Fun:
www.thesmokering.com

Here it is the middle of summer and for some, our minds turn to the great questions of life such as “what came first, the chicken or the egg?” Or, “if a tree falls in the woods, and there’s no one there to hear it, did it make a sound?” And most profoundly, “what’s the best technique to barbecue ribs?” Luckily the answer to the last question is a little easier to find, especially if you use this website. The Smoke Ring is the place to go for everything you need to know about barbecue, grilling and smoking. Whether you are looking for recipes, grills, smokers, sauces, rubs, or want to learn how to cook barbecue The Smoke Ring, (or one of their 600+ member sites) has what you need. They even have a “How to” section that covers everything from Texas Beef Ribs to building your own BBQ pit (metal or brick, your choice). Another site feature is their active online forum to discuss all things BBQ where you can ask the experts questions. So here is to pondering some of life’s great existential questions this summer over a great rack o’ribs… Cheers and enjoy your summer!
