OSHA Regulations require that every employee who handles truck tires and wheels in any way must have documented training.

According to OSHA Regulation 29 CFR 1910.177, every employee who handles truck tires and wheels must be trained to recognize the hazards and follow the proper procedures for handling and servicing single and multi-piece wheel assemblies.

In an effort to reduce injuries related to commercial tire and wheel service, the Tire Industry Association (TIA) has announced a special back-to-back, one-day technician training and certification seminar schedule for Fall 2007.

TIA’s Commercial Tire Service (CTS) Certification Program has educated almost 20,000 individuals from coast-to-coast. By conducting regional one-day classroom seminars, we hope to reach more technicians from every segment of the tire and transportation industries.

From start to finish, this is the most comprehensive one-day truck tire and wheel service training seminar available in the industry. In fact, the volume of information provided virtually guarantees that each technician will learn practical techniques, regardless of their work experience. If providing your employees with the best possible training and certification is your goal, TIA’s CTS Program is designed for you and your business.

HOURS OF TRAINING
The training is held from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The Certification Exam begins at 5:00 p.m., immediately following the training. Students are released after completing the Exam. The back to-back, one-day training format in each city enables companies to “split” their workforce and send half of their employees to the first day, and the other half to the second day.

TRAINING TOOLS
This is a classroom only session using videotapes developed by the industry and the 250-page TIA Commercial Tire Service Manual. There is no hands-on training.

CERTIFICATION
Every student who successfully completes the Certification Exam will receive 13 Certified Technician uniform emblems, a certificate and a two-year s bscription to TIA’s Commercial Tire Service Today publication.

REGISTRATION
The advance registration fee to attend a CTS Training & Certification Seminar is $300 for anyone needing a copy of the TIA CTS Manual. Students that already own the CTS Manual may attend for $200. Everyone taking the Certification Exam must have his or her own copy of the CTS Manual. The advance registration fee includes lunch and must be received no later than one week prior to the training date. A $25 charge will be added to registrations after that date.
