TIA to Present Six Educational Sessions at 2024 GTE/SEMA Show

BOWIE, Md. – This fall, the Tire Industry Association (TIA) will offer six exclusive educational sessions during the Global Tire Expo (GTE) – Powered by TIA/SEMA Show. In addition, TIA’s incoming President, Debra Hamlin, will join a special SEMA panel discussion aimed at providing business owners and executives with the tools to develop confident and assertive leadership within the automotive aftermarket sector.

The GTE/SEMA Show takes place from November 5–8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. TIA’s pre-show events kick off at Planet Hollywood on Monday, November 4, featuring the Annual Membership Meeting, from 12:00 pm – 12:30 pm in Melrose 1 & 2. Following that, the Right to Repair Summit will be held in Melrose 4, from 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm. In addition to the educational sessions, TIA is thrilled to offer two exclusive networking receptions, providing valuable opportunities to connect with industry peers.

Tire Industry Networking Reception

TIA will host a booth reception, offering a relaxed setting to meet TIA leadership, including incoming President Debra Hamlin. Enjoy refreshments while forging meaningful connections with fellow attendees.

TIA Educational Sessions


On Tuesday, November 5th, TIA will kick off its educational program in the Upper South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center with three highly informative sessions:

  • “Tires at 10: The Next Level of Automotive Tire Service Training,” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Jose Moreno, Tire Service Manager at TIA, and Ryan Graves, Automotive Tire Service Training Manager at TIA, will present, with Shawn Pease, Director of Tire Service at TIA, moderating. This session will offer an in-depth look at TIA’s updated Automotive Tire Service (ATS) training and certification program, focusing on new technologies like tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) and their impact on technicians.
  • “Truck Tires at 10: Truck Tire Inflation Safety,” will run from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., moderated by Kevin Rohlwing, TIA’s Chief Technical Officer. This session will focus on the risks associated with truck tire inflation—one of the most hazardous tasks in the tire and wheel service industry. Attendees will explore OSHA standards, industry best practices, and the necessary equipment to ensure technician safety during truck tire inflation.
  • “Tires at 2: Successful Tire Dealers Share Their Secrets,” will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., moderated by Kevin Rohlwing. In this popular session, top tire dealers from across the country will discuss the key factors that have contributed to their success, offering valuable insights for independent tire dealers.

In addition to TIA’s sessions, Debra Hamlin, TIA’s incoming President, will participate in the panel discussion Management Essentials for Industry Leaders on Tuesday, November 5, in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. On Wednesday, TIA will offer three more educational sessions:

  • “TPMS at 10: Understanding the Basics of TPMS,” will be moderated by Shawn Pease, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This session will address the challenges tire retailers face with TPMS, reviewing the fundamentals of TPMS systems, tools, and sensor management across various makes and models.
  • “Truck Tires at 10: Demounting and Mounting Truck Tires with TPMS,” moderated by Kevin Rohlwing, will focus on the increasing use of TPMS in the truck tire industry. This session, running from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., will guide technicians through the proper steps for safely demounting and mounting truck tires equipped with sensors, ensuring no damage is done to the TPMS units.
  • “Tires at 2: Risk Management in a Retail Tire Dealership,” will run from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., moderated by Kevin Rohlwing. This session will explore the various risks tire retailers face, including liability from vehicle servicing and facility accidents, as well as fire prevention strategies. Real-world examples of lawsuits against tire retailers will be used to highlight best practices in risk management.
