TIA to Hold Training Classes for Earthmover, Automotive and Commercial Tire Technicians

BOWIE, Md. – The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is offering three in-person, hands-on training classes in September and October for automotive, commercial and earthmover tire technicians.

The Advanced Hands-on Earthmover Tire Service (ETS) training class will take place Sept. 27-30 in Garner, Iowa. The Certified Automotive Tire Service (ATS) class, which is a 300-level and 400-level certification program, will be held Oct. 4-7 in Louisville, Ky., and the Certified 400-level Commercial Tire Service (CTS) class will take place Oct. 11-14, also in Louisville.

The Advanced ETS course offers comprehensive hands-on training using a service truck, hydraulic tools and a variety of equipment that can aid technicians in servicing tires. Class topics cover: Service Truck Operation; Preventative Maintenance Training (service truck, crane, compressor, etc.); Site Preparation and Equipment; Hydraulic Tool Operation & Maintenance; Service One-, Three- and Five-Piece (on machine and loose); Wheel & Rim Fastening Systems; and Wheel Inspection. Attendees who successfully complete the four-day class will receive a Certificate of Completion. Course tuition is $595. The Certified ATS class provides in-depth, comprehensive instruction on the recommended procedures for servicing passenger and light truck tires. Those who successfully pass the four-day class will be certified as Advanced ATS Instructors, allowing them to certify ATS instructors and technicians in the field. Course tuition is $950. The Certified CTS Instructor class covers all aspects of medium/heavy truck tire service and also teaches attendees how to instruct a 300-Level Certified Technician course in the field. Coursework consists of 18 modules, including OSHA requirements, wheel service and torque, single-piece and multi-piece rim demounting, mounting and inflation, charts and tables and more.
