LAS VEGAS – The Michelin North America Inc. and Tire Industry Association (Michelin/TIA) Scholarship Program has awarded $4,650 in academic scholarships to two students for the 2022 – 2023 academic year.

The scholarship winners were announced during the 2022 TIA Annual Membership Meeting Oct. 31 prior to the start of the Global Tire Expo (GTE)/SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

Winners were selected based on their exceptional academic and extracurricular achievements, with the judging done by the independent Center for Scholastic Administration.

The scholarship program, now in its 22nd year, was established by Michelin North America for employees of tire dealers who are members of TIA. Applicants must be part-time employees or dependent children of full-time employees of TIA member companies.

The 2022 scholarship recipients are:

“For the past 22 years, Michelin has generously partnered with TIA to recognize and support outstanding part-time employees and high school students of employees of TIA member companies,” TIA CEO Richard “Dick” Gust said. “There is nothing more important than supporting young people as they further their academic careers in college, vocational and/or technical schools., and we are honored to be a part of this special program.”

The Michelin/TIA Scholarship has been awarded every year since 2000 to either part-time employees or dependent children of full-time employees of TIA member tire dealers. Since its inception, the program has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships to a total of 74 recipients who have gone on to attend accredited two-year, four-year, technical or vocational schools.
