TIA Announces 2014 OTR Conference Motivational Speaker

  • Release Date: November 25, 2013

Bowie, MD –The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has announced that Jim “The Rookie” Morris will be the Motivational Speaker at the 2014 OTR Conference. Jim’s motivational address will take place on Friday, February 21 and is sponsored by BKT.

Jim “The Rookie” Morris’ life story is the inspiration behind the Walt Disney blockbuster film, “The Rookie,” starring Dennis Quaid. To motivate his rag tag high school baseball team, Jim, as a 35-year-old schoolteacher, made a bet that he would try out for the big leagues if his team won a district championship. When Jim’s team won, he followed through on his promise, going to a tryout where he threw 12 consecutive pitches at 98 mph. Three months later, Jim achieved his dream of pitching in the big leagues.

“We are excited to hear Jim’s inspirational story and what he has accomplished. Although his story takes place on a baseball diamond, we can all relate to fulfilling goals and dreams in our businesses and our lives. OTR conference attendees are in for a real treat,” said TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield.

The OTR Conference will be held February 19-22, 2014 at the Marco Island Marriott Resort & Golf Club, 400 S. Collier Boulevard, Marco Island, FL 34145.
