FLSA and Federal Exemptions from Overtime Requirements Webinar for TIA Members

  • Release Date: October 07, 2016

Bowie, Md. – Federated Insurance, the preferred provider of business and workers’ compensation insurance for the Tire Industry Association (TIA), is providing TIA members with access to a free webinar, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) & Federal Exemptions from Overtime Requirements, on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. (EDT). The webinar will be conducted by Enquiron as part of the Federated Employment Practices Network (FEPN).

The federal FLSA requires that most employees be paid at least minimum wage for their hours worked, as well as overtime pay. The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) announced salary level changes, also known as the “Final Rule” earlier this year that will be applied to certain exemptions impacting payment for hours worked and overtime. The webinar will review the impact of the Final Rule on employers’ ability to classify individuals as exempt from overtime requirements, as well as provide guidance concerning when individuals may be classified as exempt under the executive, administrative, professional, computer and outside sales exemptions based upon the requirements of FLSA.

The presentation will be led by Mark Preiss, Employment Counsel, at Advisors Law Group, LLP in Boston, Mass. Preiss provides guidance to businesses concerning application of company policies and compliance with federal and state employment statues, including the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
