TIA to Induct Tom Formanek as President

Bowie, Md. - On Monday, October 31, 2016, the Tire Industry Association (TIA) will hold its Annual Membership Meeting, where Tom Formanek will be inducted as the Association’s new president. Formanek will serve a one-year term.

Upon graduating from North Iowa Area Community College in 1982, Formanek started his career in the truck equipment industry by working as production manager for Unicover Inc., a pickup topper manufacturer. After six years, he moved on from Unicover and became more involved in the tire industry by working in sales and eventually as division manager for Collins, a division of DMC, which was purchased by Stellar Industries, a premier manufacture of tire service trucks for the tire industry, in 1993. For the past 22 years, Formanek has been with Stellar Industries where he has served as the manager of tire service products and currently is regional sales manager. His dedicated involvement with the Tire Industry Association (TIA) stems back to 1993 when he was first elected to the board of directors of the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association (NTDRA). As a director for NTDRA, he served on the executive committee and as supplier group chairman in 1997. Formanek continued his involvement as a member of the board of directors through the Tire Association of North America (TANA) years and into the current TIA. His involvement includes being chairman of the events, training, finance, strategic planning and nominating committees. He also served as TIA’s Treasurer for six years before being elected to Secretary and advancing through the chairs of the association where he currently serves as Vice President.

In addition, TIA will also introduce David Martin, Director of Sales, Tire Supplies & Specialty Rubber, American Tire Distributors as TIA vice president and John Evankovich, Director of Tire & Battery Centers, Sam’s Club, as TIA secretary. Mike Wolfe, Southeastern Wholesale Tire, will remain TIA treasurer.

The Annual Membership Meeting will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Tropicana Las Vegas (Montecristo 3 & 4). All TIA members are invited and there is no cost to attend.
