Registration Opens for 5 TIA Online Seminars

BOWIE, Md. – The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has opened registration for five free virtual commercial and retail tire educational sessions that originally were scheduled to take place during this year’s Global Tire Expo/SEMA Show.

“More than 1,000 GTE/SEMA registrants had expressed interest in these seminars, and now they and others will have the opportunity to attend them live online via Zoom,” said Roy Littlefield, TIA CEO.

The sessions will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 3 and Wednesday, Nov. 4. To register, visit https://www.tireindustry.org/global-tire-expo-sema-show. Attendees will receive a link for each of the sessions. Registration is free and open to the entire industry.

Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020

1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. EDT
A Decade of CSA
Speaker: Kevin Rohlwing, senior vice president of training, Tire Industry Association
This session will revisit the changes to the Compliance, Safety, Accountability program (CSA) over the last 10 years since its introduction and provide a snapshot of what it looks like today. It also will address what it means for commercial tire dealers looking ahead to the next decade as the needs of fleets continue to shift from repair to preventative maintenance.

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. EDT
Vehicle Lifting Safety
Moderator: Matthew White, director of tire service, Tire Industry Association
Speakers: Dale Soos, senior project engineer, Automotive Lift Institute
Janelle Storey, certification program coordinator, Automotive Lift Institute

TIA is partnering with the Automotive Lift Institute to discuss the most important factors to consider before attempting to raise a vehicle, from equipment maintenance and selecting the proper lift points to special safety procedures for alternative fuel vehicles and specialty vehicles. This session will provide technicians with the tools and information they need to succeed and protect themselves from a serious or fatal injury.

Successful Tire Dealers Share Their Secrets
Moderator: Kevin Rohlwing, senior vice president of training, Tire Industry Association
TIA has invited the Tire Business Tire Dealer Humanitarian Award winner and the Tire Review Top Shop winner to make brief presentations on what makes them successful and then participate in an informative question and answer session with the audience.

Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020

Minimizing Risk when Servicing Truck Tires
This session will focus on data from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) fatality reports identifying hazards when servicing commercial truck tire and wheel assemblies and provide guidelines that commercial tire technicians can follow to minimize risk.

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. EDT
Correcting Ride Complaints
Moderator: Shawn Pease, director of automotive tire service, Tire Industry Association
Speakers: Greg Meyer, product manager, wheel balancers, Hunter Engineering
Stewart Peregrine, regional sales manager, Hennessy Industries

Balancing experts from Hennessy Industries Inc.’s Coats brand and Hunter Engineering Co. will join TIA’s training team to provide attendees with helpful tips they can use to quickly and accurately diagnose and repair NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) concerns.
