BOWIE, Md. – The application process has opened for interested high school seniors whose parents work for member companies of the Tire Industry Association (TIA) to apply for a Michelin/TIA college scholarship for the 2022-2023 academic year. The application process will be open until Feb. 1, 2022.
Michelin North America, Inc. and TIA will award three scholarships totaling $6,250 to selected students. This includes one $3,000 award (a total of four years, not to exceed $12,000) and two $1,625 awards (a total of four years, not to exceed $6,500 each). The awards will be applied to tuition, fees and books.
The eligibility requirements are as follows:
All recipients must be enrolled full-time each semester and working toward an undergraduate degree. The scholarships are renewable after the freshman year for three years, or until the degree is obtained, whichever is earlier. Scholarship recipients must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 to be eligible for renewal.
Interested students can apply at www.scholarshipprograms.org/mtia. Additional materials must be mailed in one envelope to: Michelin TIA Scholarship, P.O. Box 1465, Taylors, SC 29687, and must be received by 5:00 p.m. EST on Feb. 1, 2022.
The Michelin/TIA Scholarship has been awarded every year since 2000 to either part-time employees or dependent children of full-time employees of TIA member tire dealers. Since the scholarship’s inception, more than $500,000 has been awarded to a total of 72 recipients who have gone on to attend accredited two-year, four-year, technical or vocational schools.
