TIA Postpones 2021 Lobby Day and Summits

  • Release Date: May 07, 2021

BOWIE, Md. – Due to uncertainties surrounding government visitations and international travel, the Tire Industry Association (TIA) has postponed its Lobby Day, Environmental Summit and International Issues Summit planned for this year as part of the association’s 100th anniversary celebration.

These three events, as well as the anniversary celebration scheduled for last year’s Global Tire Expo (GTE)/SEMA Show in Las Vegas, also were postponed in 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s decision does not impact TIA’s rescheduled 100-year anniversary celebration or Tire Industry Honors luncheon set to take place on Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hotel and casino prior to the opening of the GTE/SEMA show in Las Vegas. Those events will go on as planned.

Lobby Day, which gives tire industry members a chance to visit Capitol Hill and discuss issues facing the industry, and the Environmental Summit, a forum devoted specifically to environmental issues within the industry, will be pushed to 2022 in Washington, D.C., with more details to follow.

The International Issues Summit addressing four tire-related issues impacting the global tire market will be re-scheduled for 2022’s GTE/SEMA Show.

“This was a difficult decision, but restrictions on government buildings in Washington, D.C., left TIA unable to adequately plan for in-person meetings with elected officials and agency staff this year,” said TIA CEO Roy Littlefield. “Moreover, while the GTE/SEMA Show is still on for 2021, many countries are still limiting international travel. Postponing TIA’s International Issues Summit to 2022 will ensure that as many international industry members as desire can attend and participate.”
