TIA to Offer Virtual Spanish Certified CTS Technician Training Class

  • Release Date: January 06, 2021

BOWIE, Md. – The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is expanding its training offerings taught in Spanish, with the introduction of a Virtual Spanish Certified Commercial Tire Service (CTS) training class in February.

The Level 300 program, designed for experienced employees with at least one year of hands-on experience, will be taught in Spanish by a TIA staff member using video conference technology. The coursework will cover 18 different modules, including OSHA requirements and single-piece and multi-piece rim demounting and mounting, nail hole repair and more. Classwork will include “live” training, via Zoom, in combination with videos and images from the association’s Certified CTS program.

To pass the program, students must successfully complete the final exam and show proficiency in the shop by demonstrating their ability to perform various skills. This hands-on work must be witnessed and signed off on by a service manager or supervisor. Students who pass the course will receive a certificate, 13 uniform patches and a two-year subscription to TIA’s bi-monthly publication, Commercial Tire Service Today.

The Virtual Spanish CTS class will take place Feb. 16-17. It involves six hours of classwork each day from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

“The addition of this class addresses the coast-to-coast need for commercial tire and wheel service training in Spanish,” said Dan Nothdurft, TIA president. “We are fortunate to have a bilingual instructor, Jose Moreno, on staff who is fluent in Spanish.”
